What is cancer?
The name Cancer encompasses many types and can set in to many different parts of our bodies. Cancer has a professional name in the medical field it’s called Malignancy; a malignancy is an abnormal growth of cells. There are more than 100 types of cancer, including skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, bone cancer, breast cancer, and lymphoma. Symptoms vary depending on the type. Cancer treatment may include radiation, chemotherapy, surgery and even some of the cutting edge treatments like Autologous Blood Stem-Cell Transplant and CAR T-Cell Therapy. There are new studies coming out all the time and with every study comes more hope to beat Cancer back. The June 29th of 2015 in WebMD Health News by Rita Rubin and reviewed by Arefa Cassoobhoy MD, MPH talks about how Immune Drugs show promise in the fight, these are drugs that help our bodies natural immune system fight back. So the good news is Cancer now has a shorter life span than it did even five years ago. Many say that in ten years we can totally beat Cancer.
